What is stored on your phone

To work, the app stores the following on your phone:

None of this is sent to us or anyone else. You can edit and delete it in the app. “Clear history” in Settings deletes the history, and everything is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Camera and photos

The app asks for access to the camera and your photos only so you can take or pick a photo of a receipt. The photo is kept in memory while you split and is not saved when the app closes.

Please avoid photographing card or account numbers.

Scanning

On the phone (Google ML Kit)

The phone reads the text itself, and the photo and the text stay on the phone. Google ML Kit sends technical information to Google for diagnostics and usage statistics: phone model, operating system version, app version, a random installation ID, how long the reading took, and any error codes. Google encrypts this and does not share it with third parties.

AI scan (DelFair Pro)

When you choose AI scan:

  1. The app makes the photo smaller and sends it encrypted to our server.
  2. The server passes the photo to Anthropic, the maker of Claude. Claude reads the receipt and returns the text.
  3. The server sends the text to the app and forgets the photo. We do not store or log the photo or the text.

The server uses your IP address briefly to prevent abuse. It is not stored.

Anthropic does not use the photo to train its models and deletes it within 30 days. If a request is flagged for violating Anthropic’s usage policy, Anthropic may keep it for up to 2 years. See Anthropic’s privacy policy.

Exchange rates (DelFair Pro)

If a receipt is in another currency, the app can fetch today’s rate from Frankfurter, a free service that publishes the European Central Bank’s reference rates. The app sends only the two currency codes, for example EUR and NOK. Like any online service, Frankfurter sees your IP address.

App updates

The app can check for and download updates from Expo (EAS Update). Expo then receives technical information such as your IP address, the app version, whether the phone is an iPhone or Android, and a random installation ID.

Buying DelFair Pro

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your card details. The app only learns whether you have an active subscription, so Pro can be unlocked. Apple’s and Google’s own privacy policies apply to the purchase itself.

Sharing

The app never shares anything by itself. When you tap “Share”, you choose where the settlement goes.
